The Waitresses perform on the Square Pegs pilot. This show summed up what my teenaged years were like. Nerdy like Patty, and braceface & fat like Lauren.
Hoping my mom would still have these books of mine, but nope! Of all the things to toss of mine (WORST being my years of Sassy backissues, and there were a lot b/c i got a subscription right away). Le sigh.
Always makes my top lists for films showcasing teen angst (my favorite genre).
“A kid who tells on another kid is a dead kid.”

This is song I wrote with my former bandmate when we were in college. We were/are obsessed with Duckie Dale and decided to write a song about him. The mp3 is below.
One More Time—The Cure
I’d love to touch the sky tonight. I’d love to touch the sky.
High School Tears.
A Thousand Hours—The Cure
I cannot even tell you how many hours my teenaged self spent locked in her room, sobbing hysterically while listening to this song. I’d put it on repeat, or sometimes program it in with “One More Time” and just cry. Wondering why no one liked me. Why I had no friends. Why leaving on the weekend to go to other cities’ drama and debate tournaments was the only thing that made me happy.
Happy 71st Birthday, Judy Blume.
